Use sprockets and chain from an 86 or 87 Honda
CMX450C. Great ratio. While you are at it, switch
to the Rebel 450 rims, best of both worlds, spokes
AND tubeless tires.

PS: As for your suicide clutch and shifter you mentioned
earlier, it's called that for a reason. Most modern bike
riders can't get the hang of them. If you are serious,
make sure you use early HD parts for the conversion,
don't try to jerry-rig something like this. All the
parts need proper heat-treating and shaping. Don't
cold bend the rods and cable ends to force them to fit.
